Venice, Italy....Exploring San Marco Piazza.

Casanova of course!
We ate a lovely lunch with this fellow, with a glass or two of wine.

We loved the 'signage' for many of the merchants...umbrellas for sale I see.

The shop below, another amazing building,  but as you enter, the escalator looks for all the world like a red carpet....well of course we had to ride it up....

We had a light lunch on the ground floor here, (black and white striped high backed chairs)

Coffee in this beautiful restaurant.  The Christmas lights were still up and again the covered arched walkways sparkled with these fairy lights.  Through the window, left, you can just make out the gold walls and amazing features of this restaurant.  We only had coffee, but it was so very very grand.

San Marco Piazza.
Here we noticed parents sprinkle food on the ground around their children and laugh as hundreds of pigeons swoop down and surround their screaming child.  hmm....?

Another beautiful clear, sunny day.   We were so, so very lucky with the weather for the whole trip.

So with this we leave beautiful Venice.  I would return to Italy at the drop of a hat.  I loved Rome. How can a huge, busy, bustling city rub shoulders with such history? But it does.  To be able to sit and have a coffee across the road from the Colosseum. People rushing back to work past the Pantheon, or sitting on the Spanish Steps eating their lunch.  Florence, weaving your car though narrow lanes, up and over wonderful arched bridges centuries old.  Venice....I'm finding it hard to express how unforgettable Venice was.  I love it.
