St Ives High School Newsletter Article

SPANISH TOUR
In the lead up to Easter, a group of St Ives students, teachers and a very welcome parent, departed for two
and a half weeks of language and cultural immersion to Spain. The students represented themselves, the
school and their families with tremendous dignity and enthusiasm, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
As part of the 18-day tour, organised and lead by Ms Joynes and Mr Percy, the group initially stayed in
Salamanca to attend language school, then to try their new found knowledge in the real world, travelled to
the cities of: Cordoba, Malaga, Granada and Madrid; with day trips to Segovia, Avila, Caceres and Toledo.
We saw, heard, tasted and experienced the myriad of historical and cultural elements Spain has to offer
and many of us are keen to build on the language learned and friendships forged on a trip we will never
forget. Thanks must go to all the teachers and students on the tour for making it such a success; and also
to those who helped to facilitate it, but sadly had to remain behind.   Julia Clark
